As part of an online Fuji camera group, I had the pleasure of meeting up with about 12 other members of the group to photograph a model, hired for the occasion. Natalia Naa, who has a huge following on Instagram, took us through the way she works, discussing locations, her photo style and even the kinds of props she uses. We then took turns to photograph Georgie, our model for the day.
I can only imagine it’s quite a daunting task, even for someone with plenty of experience, to have to model for a fairly large group of total strangers. She coped incredibly well and after a while seemed to relax and enjoy the experience.
I’m still a little uncomfortable asking someone to pose a certain way, to ‘move your head’, or ‘look this way’, ’tilt your chin’, ‘push your hair back’, but of course it’s a two-way process and when a few of us talked to Georgie she said that she feels better when she is directed clearly.
It was a great experience and I enjoyed getting to know some of the other photographers too – and taking some of their photos!
